`You've Got to Draw the Line somewhere'. I hear this said quite a lot - and am often tempted to say. `What would happen if you didn't.' What is this statement about? It can be about anything and everything really. I was collecting for a charity recently and heard it several times in response to my request that the householder bought a Charity Ticket. The price of the ticket was £2. The Charity holds this fundraising event once a year. These are some of the responses. `Well we give to all sorts of Charity' `No'. `I give to Cancer, the Red Cross, the Save the Children, the North West Air Ambulance, the Blind, the Deaf.'.....[by this time I have to say I have switched off because I guess what they are really saying is `no', - and they don't need to explain to me what they do give to. My request was whether they would give to this particular one!] I reckon the answer to that is as above `no'. Then of course, there's the subject of this article the phrase `Well you've got to draw the line somewhere - haven't you'. Now we all know what they mean....but just exactly what does it mean? This is really all tied up in how a person thinks, their personal beliefs and values. Some people I find appear outwardly to be very wealthy - and yet may decline to buy a ticket. Some people will scour the house to find the last few coppers, or ask everyone in the house to contribute rather than say no......and some will empty a jar of copper that has been saved for years by the telephone into your hands. It's £2. But it's not the same £2 to everyone. In fact it means considerably different things to different people. Judgements are made from all manner of different perspectives on the subject. So next time you say `you've got to draw the line' I invite you to think what would happen if you didn't? This isn't just about giving to charity - it's about the whole way that we limit our potential and put a stop to things happening, which may after all only be a way to experience a whole new adventure. Life doesn't have to be the way it is..it can be a whole new exciting adventure every single day. Most of it is concerned with whether we have a life or whether we ascribe to the belief that `we have to draw one someone'. Why make life so difficult. Enjoy your abundance and free yourself to experience more. |
